They live in the farmhouse next door to the cottage and whilst not intruding on your privacy are most kind and helpful. The cottage is conveniently situated just over 1km from an excellent restaurant and between the towns of Certaldo and San Gimignano both only about five minutes drive away. At San Gimignano there are many historical monuments to visit, a good choice of restaurants, lots of local craft shops and an open air swimming pool whilst Certaldo has a supermarket, railway station and an interesting medieval quarter, birthplace of the famous poet Boccacio end home of the “Mercantia” craft fair. Just 12km down the road is Poggibonsi with its rail and road links to both Siena and Florence marking it very easy to visit Tuscany’s most important sights. |
